The Air Acolytes learned how to care for Flying Bisons, Flying Lemurs and other airbending creatures, pretty much bringing them back from the brink of extinction.The war refugees in the Northern Temples contributed to the Air Acolytes with gliders and technology which allowed them to mimic airbending ways.Under Aangs teaching and restoring of the Air Temples, the Air Acolytes not only grew in numbers but birthed their own generations, all while keeping Air Nomad teachings alive through them.Aang respected them and as a representive Air Nomad, adopted them into his culture as "Air Acolytes". The Official Avatar Aang Fan Club did not just adore Aang, they chose to ressurect and adopt Air Nomad culture and lifestyle despite themselves being foreign to the culture. In fact the only solid information we do have on its date, Roku stating the Avatar has mastered the elements thousands of times over thousands of lifetimes, would place said Harmonic Convergence many years earlier. It could have been many many more years prior to that. Knowing this piece of information, there's no reason to assume the Harmonic Convergence we observe in Beginnings happens on 10,000 years prior to that at the end of Book 2: Spirits.

Additionally looking at the sources for most of the dates of it appear to reference Beginnings, so as far as I can tell there's not some content I've missed important to this. I've been wondering how we know this date for a while and figured I just missed something but I've just rewatched ALoK Book 2: Spirits and nothing there appears to suggest we know the date of this convergence. According to the wiki the battle (and other events) occurred around 9,829 BG.
